Nancy Mansfield, Ph.D., is the Executive Director of the Institute for Families; Counselor and Ombudsman for the Retinoblastoma Center; and Patient Advocate for the Institute for Maternal-Fetal Health and the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. She is also Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California.

Nancy has been working with families since she began her education at the University of California at Los Angeles in 1972. She has a Bachelor's degree in Child and Adult Development, a Master's degree in Child and Adult Development and a Ph.D. in Child Development and Family Dynamics. Nancy also has a Certificate in Early Intervention and Family Dynamics, which she received after training at the Thalians Community Mental Health Clinic in Los Angeles. She has also done post graduate studies in the Psychodynamics of Small Groups at the University of California at Los Angeles.

Nancy has been the Executive Director of the Institute for Families since 1987. Ever since childhood Nancy knew she wanted to work with families. She says, "I feel that I am doing what I was meant to do and feel honored to hear the stories and feelings of the brave and wonderful families I am privileged to know through IMFH and my other affiliations." Nancy has one son who is now attending the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
